Concept: I began this painting in October with winter seemingly at its deepest. Thinking of nature in its slumber, I wanted to create a painting that would suggest dormancy, of waiting, of being 'on hold' but also of potentiality. This painting is therefore relational in that the two main elements (the 'Verticals') exist together and rely on each-other to make the painting work. This drama unfolds in a pink field, suggestive of warm summer colours to come
